d'Arnise Keep problem

Big problem, I'm a fighter, cleared out the d'arnise keep, and have gone through all the quests up until roenall attacks the castle. I got the runner initally saying he was close, but when I went to the keep, major domo said nothing about it. so I rested for multiple days, and after a while, no runner shows up, but my quest log suddenly says d'arnise keep quest updated. then I talk to domo, he gives me the quest. however, now when I go outside, the drawbridge is up. but the captain tells me to kill roenall. so I get the bridge down via the lever, go outside, and kill roenall...however, the guard is already there saying that the keep has been turned over to roenall. I go back to talk to major domo, he's back talking as if the quest never happened. and the drawbridge doesn't stay down anymore? anyone have any idea on how I can remedy this?
