Why do game developers keep going back to the same types of settings over and over again? Can they not see that people are getting sick (at least in some cases) of the same old space RPG/ Shooters, WWII games, and dare I say it Movie games. There have been plenty of at least what I think of as an original games that have come out for computer and next gen consoles. But does any one ever go back in and make games with some of the basic out lines that thoses games made awsome NO
I am talking about games like GUN that did something that we hardly ever see in video games making a wild west shooter that actually made you feel (at least for me like you were playing something that you had never played anything like it before. Plus it actually got the horse thing right for once if you keep making it go faster and faster never stoping it is evuentually going to keel over (stupid always having to stop and rest imortal EPONA) I blow a bomb off next you and you just do not die that or it has insane reflex saves.
What are your favorite "Original" games?

From those I can think of at the moment, Fahrenheit (aka The Indigo Prophecy) and Darwinia.
Fahrenheit plays like an interactive movie with one of the best stories I've seen in a computer game. The only downside is that it gets quite a lot of plot holes towards the end, mainly because of the sudden change of plans from the publisher (it was first intended to be released in episodes). Quite a shame, actually, since the first two thirds of the game are simply brilliant.
Darwinia is also one of my favorite games that decided to try something new. It's quite hard to put it in a specific genre since it uses a bit of everything - RTS, tactical game, even Lemmings. However, everything is put together so well that it's a real pleasure to play it.

Yes I know where you are coming from with Indigo Prophecy that game is simply amazing I with I had the U.K. version though because it is supposed to be the full game with nothing cut out. I played the game through 2 or three times so I could see all the endings. Its story as you said was very good. I never really understood past the part when But that like you said was probably because of the funding issues Just like what happed to one of my other favorite games advent rising.
Spoiler
you die and come back as kind of a half ghost specter thing there

This is a subject that I'm pretty sure has been discussed numerous times both RPG related and Non-RPG related.

Siberys is correct. Depending on the game genre you want, we've already covered it repeatedly in one of two forums.
