Import problem

Having just completed BG 1 I wish to continue my Player Character (PC) into Shaddows of Amn. Upon startup I go to Import and BG 1 is not listed as an import source. In fact nothing is listed in the space that says I should be able to access any of the related games. Both BG 1(T of B) BG 2 (S of A) and are saved to the same path ( c:\Program File\Black Isle\ .....). So what did I do wrong?

Copy the character file from BG1 or a saved game into the relevant folders in BG2
