Chapter 2 Collecting Tomes for NPC Near Temple

I have been collecting books (Tomes) for a woman who stands on a hill side at the top end of Port Llast in Chapter 2. She gave me a quest to collect these books that she calls tomes. You can also purchase magical equipment from her, but only if you give her something special like a bodaks tooth or dragons blood etc (Unusual Magical Items.)

The reason why I am here is to ask about the portal that she has to the east of where she stands which takes you underground to her building where a man explains to you about what the tomes are for.

It seems that, when you colloect one of the tomes, a chest in the middle of a large room gains abilities to change items. I have collected 2 of these tomes so far and according to a bookcase to the right of the chest, where there are now 2 instruction guides for amking magical items, I think it's for spells.

There are 2 pieces of paper and each piece of paper with the instructions is added each time I give the lady one of the tomes. So due to the fact that I have given her 2 tomes, there are 2 different things the chest can do.

According to one of the guides, if you place one buttercap gland and one fanberry (I think that's the names of the items), you will make some electric item. I am not sure if it means a spell or soemthing else.

I have placed both items, the gland and the berry into the chest, but nothing happens. I am not sure on what to do. I don't know if you have to add armour or weapons or anything else. There isn't much info on the subject.

I can only hope that soemone out there knows of what I am talking about and can elaborate on the question. Thank you very much for your time.

It has been a very long time since I've played, but as I recall - then those Tomes gives recipes to create items, and usually when you create items you need to to gather a few ingredients and cast a spell on the chest afterwards.
Are you sure you are following the recipe to the "letter" so to speak?

It is however so long ago that I do not recall in detail it any more, so I can't be exact.

I have the full reciepe here

1 Fenberry, 1 Buttercap Silk Gland and Cast Lightning Bolt. Even when using the cheat codes to use all spells, I can't find who has Lightning Bolt. I can't even find any scrolls that have Lightning Bolt. I have tried all different types of lightning Bolt on the chest and nothing happens.

I need t know that after you put the 2 ingredients in, do you have to put a weapon or armour in as well and then cast the spell. Nothing works with just the two ingredients in it.

Please I need someone with full knowledge of what I am talking about that knows what must be done. One other thing, do you have to collect all 5 tomes, before you can use the magic chest?

If you don't have a character who can cast Lightning Bolt, you can purchase it from Eloorta before you go to her lab. Then put the items in the chest and cast the spell on the chest. Hope this helps.

the guy in the her study will sell u a lightning scroll..... u have to put in the ettercap silk gland and a fenberry in the chest and with the chests invetory still open cast the lightning spell on the chest. the item created from this will then replace the two items in the chest....... i jus made the first item and thats how i did it.... hope this helps.
