Thoughts on groupforming..your opinion please..

Post by MordorMan »

Hello!

I have been reading a bit about NWN and I think I will really get addicted to the game, as I am now to BG 1 & 2. I really like the idea of exploring new areas with a group of human players. I noticed a lot of guilds are being formed on this forum but what I find curious is that they are based on class only. I suppose the guild members will form groups to go exploring the Sword Coast together. So you would have groups of wizards, groups of barbarians and groups of jesters walking around for example. Now wouldn’t it be nice to also have players with similar alignments forming something like guilds. Of course you couldn’t call them guilds because a guild is a group of people with the same profession, you would have to pick another name..

There are lots of ways to form groups. By class for example, like guilds, but one could also imagine groups of similar race (the seven dwarves) or gender (the woman’s domination society, the gentlemen only club), but I think alignment is a good characteristic to base you group membership on. You could have a bunch of wizards working a dungeon, but if some of them are chaotic evil and others are lawful good, there are bound to be some internal conflicts, I think. I think it would be good to have associations of like-minded people next to the guilds. An existing example would be the Harpers, who strife for balance in the world (neutral alignment). Now in BG the harpers were all druids, but I think you can be both a member of a guild, where you learn the secrets of your trade, and of a ‘political faction’, where you can go on missions that you all agree on.

I am afraid I did not read all posts in this forum, so the idea might have been brought up before. Still, I would like to know what your opinion is.

I myself wouldn’t mind being a member of a secret society of anarchists…

Greetings,

MM

Don't worry about such things. Who you'll be adventuring with will for a large part depend on whoever is online at the same time (what with different timezones and lag and all).

The Guild is split into Wings, but that doesn't mean all mages only go out with other mages. The Magi Wing is simply the place where most of 'em come to hang out. ;)

As for the Alignment business, I think most of the Blades will get along quite like a mixed BG2 party gets along. :D

The reason for the guilds is to sepearate the different people on the board. The block-heads in one wing, the nerds in another, the enviromentalists in another, the criminals in another, and the goody-goods in another. :p   ;) :D :p
If nothing we do matters, then all that matters is what we do.

Well there is actually only oneguild in here (On gamebanshee) - the reason it seems there are more, is that we for organisational purpose have divided the guild into wings base on class.
This has nothing to do with how we will play the game, it is just to keep track of players and their characters.
So the guild "Blades of The Banshee" is for all characters wich is a member of GameBanshee that would like to play NwN as mulitplayer.
The main reason for making the guild was so it would be easier to find others to multiplay with.

As it seems right now - we will play in the persistant world called "Argyle" but there is nothing to hinder us playing on other persitant/non-persitant worlds if that is what people want.

I also hope that we would be become good enough to make our own modules, so we can play these together.

All in all, we are only a group of people going under the same name, to ease mulitplaying :)

That would be really cool. Make the maps and history and empires.
