I’ve noticed this particular board is somewhat stagnant (understandable given that Neverwinter Nights hasn’t been released yet). So how about we spruce things up a bit by discussing the stories we intend to tell using Neverwinter’s awesome module producing ability? Personally, I have a story in works that is a pseudo continuation of the Icewind Dale/Heart of Winter storyline. It deals with the faded glory of the original heroes, now in the twilight of their lives, and how they’ve coped with the most implacable foe of all… time. Of course there’s plenty of action in it, with the return of Belhifet and other Machiavellian schemes proliferating the plot, but the gist of it is not unreminiscent of King Lear or other Shakespearian tragedies. I’ve got the preliminary plot down but have to wait until the game ships before I can finish it up.
Here’s some sample dialogue (Inspired from a Star Trek episode. Hope it’s not too melodramatic ):
“I’m old, child. Once, long ago, I was far more than what I have become. But now there’s naught left but dried bones…and memories of dead comrades, long turned to dust. Heed my words. Savor the water of life my young friend. It has a sweet taste when it is fresh from the well. But do not live too long. The taste grows bitter, after a time.”
So what do you all think? Let’s get some discussion on this board people!

Neverwinter Nights Stories
Nature’s first green is gold,
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf’s a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay.
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf’s a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay.
what about:
"i'm old child to old and smelly, once long ago i had the stupid idea to become a mage, what was i thinking.
And now there is nothing left but the old dried bones and the dirty robes that the members of The Shadow Guild left over from some of my mage friends.
Heed my words. Never become a mage my friend, because then your life has a sweet taste and you are to be a clean and fresh person. I'm not going to live to long, The Shadow Guild is after me so long and remember my advice"

I am so looking forward to GMing for my friends that I can barely contain it. I'm a big paper and pencil fan, but I'm a little disapointed with the quality of all the published campaigns out there. They have no story. They are all: The daughter of the mayor has been captured and you need to save her from the goblins.
I love telling stories and have so many ideas storming though my head that I'm frustrated I don't have enough outlets for them. That's what NWN is going to be for. The great thing with complicated stories is that they are just as fun for the GM as for the players because neither one knows what's going to happen. In the scripted campaigns, the GM knows exactly what is going to happen, heck it's all written down. It ruins the fun for the GM. The only thing that scares me is NWN might not be flexible enough for me. But if it is . . .

Seems my mage bashing has transcended boards. Actually the character talking is a dwarven warrior. But there’s a mage in the story too. And he smells marginally better than most of his counterparts.Originally posted by TheDude:

If Neverwinter Nights is half as good as it seems to be then we should have no problems. Let's keep hope alive and keep up the discussion!Originally posted by Piqsid:

No harm in a little self-promotion, Dude. Besides it gives more posts to this Ghost Town of a message board.

Tell me about it! Oh well, can't say I didn't try to liven things up here. Just goes to show that you can bring a horse to water, but you can't make it drink.

Neverwinter Nights is scheduled to be released in the latter part of the year. So it’s understandable that there’s not much interest as of yet. (despite my best efforts to the contrary )Originally posted by TheDude:
