Pop Up Problems

Post by Moonbiter »

Why is it that a couple of the fancy flying popups (and it seems like they've gotten babies recently) keeps crasching my browser both at work and at home? At first I thought it was my firewall at work creating the problem, but now I have the same thing going on two different PC's and a Mac at home...

I haven't had any issues here with IE7. What browser are you using?

I've tried both IE7 and Firefox. The problem is a triangular survey request from something called "Questionmarket" or something. It crashes the site every time it pops out.

Ooookay, now this makes me a wee bit testy: The same frikkin add, with minor changes, won't let the browsers that I've tried load GB without paying them attention. I've tried IE, Firefox ond Opera from 9 different computers, including Macs, and it keeps on being a problem. Buck, are you on vacation? This ain't ON!

If you prefer to use firefox (or don't mind it) here's a way to get rid of the problems-

I've been using this for some time now and have had virtually no advertisements since.

I'm never on vacation, I'm usually just up to my neck with work or trying to keep my kids out of trouble :) .

I've seen that questionairre ad a few times, but have always been able to close it down. I use IE7 on Vista Ultimate, Windows XP Pro, and Windows Media Center Edition. I rarely use other browsers (aside from testing purposes), so haven't seen what the ad does with Firefox or Opera yet. You might want to check that thread Siberys pointed you to.

While I have problems with some of the popups not retracting correctly, I've never had one "crash" my browser at all, including the triangular "questioner/survey one".
Neither in IE or Firefox.

I usually just ignore it and avoid clicking on it altogether.
