No messages or errors? Nothing out of the ordinary? Does it try and do anything at all? Loading cursor?

I'd first suggest reinstal, which is a lame but basic idea but there could be other things at work here.

What OS are you using? Is the game an original or a backup copy?
Etc, etc.

Please provide more information, we can't help you very much otherwise.
What do you want?
- A donut.

I'm having that same problem, too.

I downloaded a copy of Arcanum from u torrent. After installation, i can get to that initial Arcanum pop-up, start-up menu where you can choose either to play, install directX, view readme, or view trailer for empire Earth. When i choose to play, the menu goes away, but then nothing happens. The same thing happened for another game, too. Whats the deal?

Don't you dare give me that bull honky. I truly would purchase the game legally if i found it in a store, and i don't believe in buying things off the internet because i have been screwed over about six times from that. So this was my only option. So please, just help me get the thing running. I have spent more than enough damn money supporting the game industry. I deserve a little assistance.

Hmmm, well the only copies I've been able to find for sale on the web are used copies from Amazn.

Troika is out of business, Sierra does not sell hard copies or DL's...nor does Steam. At this point it seems pretty darn near impossible to find a new copy of the game.
Which is a shame as its a pretty cool game especially with Car Arcanum Mod fixing it to a fun state.

Please post if you find a legit source to purchase a new hard copy or DL version. Asking price for used copies at Amzn ranges from $53-$68....yikes.

Amazon (US) currently have about 5 copies on sale, ranging from $46 (+$4 P&P), which strikes me as being a tad expensive, a sellers market I guess.

The fact that the game is not available from either the Underdogs or Abandonia suggests that the game hasn't been abandoned and is still subject to copyright laws.

I'm surprised a mod hasn't jumped on this, as GB has a strict policy on not allowing illegal game aquisition.

I can sympathise with the probles of wanting to play the game whilst not being able to acquire it legally, but in this case it can be purchased, even if at an outrageous price.

Ebay is a nice and safe trading site, but for some reason EB games has dozens of copies available. Some other company has bought the rights to redistribute it and plenty of other games, unfortunately the name escapes me at the moment.

huh, i didn't try EB games. I tried About three gamestops, two game crazies, and a few other bigger places like best buy, target, and fred meyer, but i didn't think to hit EB. Lets hope it works. And as for the whole ebay thing, i've been messed with a lot, and my friedns have gotten some sick stuff in place of what they really wanted. I'm not an online shopper anymore. Also, i rarely download stuff, as my internet is just wretched, but i did learn an interesting lesson now.
