Problem installing the G3 NPC pack

Post by Philos »

I need some help.

I imagine Domi will probably know what the problem I am experiencing is, but if anyone else has experienced this please tell me how you corrected it.

Because I am on dial up at home (long story but only 1 provider in my area and they charge exhorbant prices), I downloaded the NPC pack at work. I burned it onto a CD and took it home. When I try to run the file, the CD reader just runs and runs as if trying to read it but can't. After a few minutes I have to either use task manager to stop the process or at least push the button to pop the CD out.

Does the file have to be downloaded onto the machine that will use it?
I am in for long night if so since it is about a 20 or 21 MgB file.
Suggestions anyone?

It shouldn't matter where you downloaded it. The problem you are having is more likely the CD, drive, or file. I assume you are not having any trouble with other CDs.

Try this. Copy the file off of the CD and onto your hard drive and try running it from there. The problem you are having sound alot like the problems I always have with the demo cds that come with the magazines. Those things almost always fail to run right. These days I will open it up and manually copy the files I want to my hard drive before running them.

Thanks Trias,

Sounds good, I'll give it a try. You are correct in that I haven't had any problems with other CDs.

Appreciate the help. :)
