Characters in NWN must be quite powerful.
I mean, if they'll be equal to BG2 imported characters, they'll have to start from level 17-23! I just wonder, how powerful will they eventually become? Imagine level 40 mage oh yeah...

Everything about NWN is in developing anf I bet the team has not decided on what to do with import characters just yet. They also mentioned on balancing the characters, which means everyone only gets certain ability points to distribute from. So we won't have god-like characters, for example, stas all 18. My best guess is that DM probably has the ultimate decision on what to do with your character. DM will see if your character has too high level or not and decrease/increase your character level to a level, which is proper to DM's game.
I wonder how Bioware is going to prevent hacking and balancing on the net though, since they're not so big on preventing hack. They more prefer on watch who you play with.
I agreed with buck on creating a new char since NWN will have different rules compare to BG2, which means your BG2 char won't be as good in NWN as you think.
