Rlease Date

Post by wolven86 »

i have official information the NWN is set for a september 2002 relase date in England

From PCGamer magazine
It looks like the RPG Gods will be taking their time over this creation story, which has now slipped to September 2002. It's known that the developers have for a long time been building up the massive library of effects and these may now take longer to implement than first considered
also later on in the copy
The pressure hasbeen building on Bioware to create in Neverwinter Nights the ultimate role-playing game, and rumours abound of a serious delay to the project, with some sources quoting late summer 2002. A spokesman for Bioware disagreed, saying "It's called Neverwinter - and we're aiming for the 'winter' part".

There has still not been any official word from Bioware, so for all we know august 2005 is still possible also

(Although bad news if true  )

The official word for Bioware is still:
There is no release date for Neverwinter Nights. When we have a release date, this post will change with the addition of the release date.

The release dates that you see at retail sites are their best guess as to when the game will ship. Sorry, but it is just that; a guess.

That being said, things are progressing quite smoothly on the game and we are still on track for a release this winter season.

Addendum: this winter season is defined as December 21st, 2001 through March 20th, 2002.

Actually, this is good. They are not pressed to release it, so they will do a good job of making and balancing the game. NWN will be played online mostly, so companies should take their time to avoid ruining the game *cough-anarchy online-cough-WW2 online-cough*.
If nothing we do matters, then all that matters is what we do.

This is good.

ToB was soooo rushed. It had to be out while BG2 was still on the shelves, and the result was a linear storyline, word count limits on the dialogue and epilogues, and cheesy immunities and firepower instead of decent AI.

I wouldn't mind seeing NWN become different.

You need something against that cough. :D

Well again, they have never given a date, and this indicates that they will do "all of the above" and try to get a "decent" game out.

IMO there is no point in discussing these things until they actually give us a release date

AHHHH YES! i finnaly got hold of a computer. didnt have one since the company i work for wanted the computers back (damn ¤%"##¤!) sorry for the absent :D

what can be taking so long with this game? i hate when gameproducers announce a game when they start making it and to make matters worse they send out a little screenshot and a little clip and a little story. that is not fair!
if it is in september i guess i can live with that (gives me more time to Anarchy Online :D )

You, you seem....familiar. Have we met before? :p :D :)

I actually like the little snippets of news and screenshots. Reminds you that the game is still in development without building up the hype.

I believe so Tamerlane :D :)

yes i like them too they are great and i know that they are working as hard and fast as they can. what i hate is you know it is in progress but you also know that you wont be able to play it for a looong time. it was better if it was like bioware said: ooopsi what do we have here...hmmm....looks like neverwinter nights....here have one enjoy. that way you wont feel like waiting for x-mas (but all this is no to good for there PR i guess :D )

Regarding our recent announcement of Neverwinter Nights contract termination with Interplay, we can't comment on this, except to say that BioWare is looking forward to releasing Neverwinter Nights on schedule, early in 2002. Development at BioWare is continuing on both Neverwinter Nights and Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic as well as on other as yet unannounced projects."

There's still hope :)

Moved from the BoTB forum to this one, due to it being more "general NwN" and not BoTB.

I've just seen the info in Amazon UK site. It says "the release date: 17 May 2002" from Virgin Interactive, with pre-order available at £24.99.

Ow, man! Are there no laws against retailers making this kind of unfounded statements just to lure customers?

Doesn't sound very official to me...
... rumours abound of a serious delay to the project, with some sources quoting late summer 2002. A spokesman for Bioware disagreed, saying "It's called Neverwinter - and we're aiming for the 'winter' part...
*Rumours* with some sources quoting late summer 2002. Also, the BioWare guy disagreed...? He/She couldn't be more clear than this without revealing too much about an exact date.

Where's the "official" part in this article?

There is no other offical word than what have been quoted numerous times:
There is no release date for Neverwinter Nights. When we have a release date, this post will change with the addition of the release date.
The release dates that you see at retail sites are their best guess as to when the game will ship. Sorry, but it is just that; a guess.

Addendum: this winter season is defined as December 21st, 2001 through March 20th, 2002.
all other things are so far speculation on us poor gamers desire to get this game :)

(EDIT: and I'm sure at march they will change that post into saying that winter will be from march 20.2002 untill march 20.2003 :D )
