camera

Someone please explain to me how to change the view of the camera. I guess it is on my mouse but it is very slow and I can not see my surroundings. I do not know how to change the camera modes. Are there different camera modes? I know that in nwn I was able to do a drop down mode and it worked great for me. This game however, is making me crazy in frustration. I have finished the tutorial and that is as far as I have gotten because I can't see my surroundings and everything is to hard to manuever. Please help if you can.
Thanks

To change cam modes back & forth from Strategy mode (seeing everything around your char) to whachu'm'call it (behind your char) OR vise-versa just hit the Asterisk button, * , on the num. pad 3rd button to the right.

...forgive the laziness, getting late
''White light beams through darkness, beset by immense haze over a few seconds followed by a loud cacophony. Motionless, the repercussion of your action strikes your feebled mind and senses. Still dazed, the intensity lingers that follows after tripping over your own sonic blind trap.''

Was that feature added on MoTB? Well try going to options and hunt around there.
Right Speech has four aspects: 1. Not lying, but speaking the truth, 2. Avoiding rude and coarse words, but using gentle speech beneficial to the listener, 3. Not slandering, but promoting friendliness and unity, 4. Avoiding frivolous speech, but saying only what is appropriate and beneficial.

Gold Dragon is correct -- on a laptop use the FN key then hit the corresponding num pad * key in that mode (on my Dell the FN key is blue, and the blue * is on the P key).

You can change the way the camera works in each mode separately through the options menu. Character mode is the over-the-shoulder view, and Strategy mode is the top-down view.

In both modes, you can zoom in & out with the mouse wheel, and you can rotate the camera by moving the mouse to the edges of the screen. In Character mode the default setting is to automatically move the camera back to behind your character and face the same direction as your char as soon as you start moving. Another nice feature you have to turn on in Char mode is to make your char start moving forward when you hold down the right mouse button, and then you can steer your char left & right with the mouse. You can still click on a spot on the ground and have your char move there if you want.

A default setting in Strategy mode is you can select multiple chars & items for issuing commands by doing a click-hold-drag to create a selection rectangle (like you would in windows anyway, or like in a real-time strategy game). I don't use that much myself, though.

Once you get used to the interface it becomes 2nd nature and is actually quite easy. Take some time to learn how the game automatically does selected actions on enemies or allies or items you have highlighted -- you don't want to accidentally cast a spell in combat on one enemy when you think you are targeting another. But it can help you save some mouse clicks when you are doing multiple actions on the same thing (like casting a lot of buffing spells on one character -- you select the character then just start clicking the spells, instead of click the spell, click the char, click the spell, click the char, etc.)

Hope this helps!
