Upgrade weapons query

I upgraded my Zabrak Vibroblade and now I apparently am not skillful enough to equip it. So what I am asking is there a way that I can tell if I will be able to use an item before I upgrade it?

In what way are you not skillful enought to use it? If so, simply improve your skills.

Go back to the workbench, look at every piece you've upgraded it with. Check where it says "feats required" in the description field.

It's not as easy as that, the best upgrades for Vibroblades require that you are a Melee Master, and (IIRC) only Guardians get that, the other two top out at the second Melee rank. So, if you're a Sentinel for example you simply can't achieve the required skill level.
