Unable to equip Lightsaber after becoming Padawan

Im playing through kotor 1 again and i just became a padawan, yet for some reason i am unable to equip any lightsaber. Anyone know a possible reason why it wont let me?

Apparently, your character doesn't have the feature that allows him to equip a lightsaber. The only thing I know that causes that is the glitch that allows you to turn your other party members into Jedi. If you didn't use that glitch, the only thing I can suggest is loading a previous game. Always keep previous saves for bugs in this game.

I ended up loading a save not too far back, i must of glitched the game when i used the Kotor Save game editor
