I was wondering if anyone has any difficulty defeating this tough plant? It was so frustrating that i always got myself killed so fast when battling this monster. After so many attempts i finally found out how to defeat it. The way in defeating it is kind of laughable :speech:

Believe me.. You won't believe it. You defeat this tough monster by using a torch which deal 1-2 damage. Was really wondering if that +20% incineration really has that huge effect in defeating it?! Without using the torch or Igni and by pure Silver sword, you'll really have a very hard time defeating it
heh, i've overprepared myself on this one.golden oriole, negredo swallow, rune on sword,....at the end it turned out i killed it before the 2nd finall attack. i used igni for incineration and have talent that increases damage on incinerated creatures in strong silver.went down pretty fast, same as other bosses/mini bosses in this game for that matter. i play on hard.
I kept having trouble with plants because for some reason Geralt wouldn't attack them. I'd click on them and he'd just stand there doing nothing. Eventually I figured out that I had to move him right next to the plant on my own, and then he'd attack, and the battles wouldn't take very long.
Some poison resistance helps, too.

Sir Edmund:"Should you obey the lord who asks you to put a village of innocents to the torch? Is that chivalrous? Is it noble?" Me:"It's a great way to get promoted, I know that much."

You hit the nail right on the head. I often changed to OTS camera and charge directly in front of it. Otherwise, Geralt will just stand there doing nothing . Maybe it wasn't the developer's fault. Blame it on the old dated Aurora Engine.
On a separate issue, i was wondering if you have runes branded on the silver sword that +X% incineration will it has effect if i don't have the Igni skill? Hmm.
hm, i find it much easier to fight with OTS camera especially on hard, i use isometric only if i'm too lazy to push forward button all the time in order to get from one part of the map to the other.
as for runes, they only raise the chance of incineration, which means if you dont have the incineration talent in igni they are useless as far incineration +x% is concerned

Had similar issues, but even then I had problems the first couple of times I ran into the plants.
I found however that the Blizzard potion really helped me a lot (in that as well as other hard fights)

I used that exact same trick too on that Archespore on steroids (Coccacidium) , except that I used Igni instead. Found that out via a game guide (not to mention that they provided the video on how to do kill it).
''They say truth is the first casualty of war. But who defines what's true? Truth is just a matter of perspective. The duty of every soldier is to protect the innocent, and sometimes that means preserving the lie of good and evil, that war isn't just natural selection played out on a grand scale. The only truth I found is that the world we live in is a giant tinderbox. All it takes...is someone to light the match" - Captain Price
Do you have to have the Coccacidium shown in your Beasties in order to fight and kill him? Do I have to read a book or scroll and who would I see to get it?? I'm in Chapter II.
Also, is it something that is required in a quest? If so who gives the quest.
But you can't skin them for items, or be able to look up their resistances and weaknesses in your journal, unless you read a book or (occasionally) learn about the monsters through conversation.
If you have an entry in your bestiary for archespores, then that should be enough to skin it. You can probably get the book from the dwarven antiquary in the temple quarter and possibly from looting.
The Coccadiaum is a trophy monster, so it's not going to have a quest entry, but Vincent Meis will mention it in conversation, and so once you kill it and take the trophy (archespore head) you can take it to him for the reward. I'm pretty sure you can take the head, if nothing else, without even having the entry in your bestiary.
