Help with Water and unknown "cruel" glyph

Post by SKev »

Help! I've completed what appears to be the "first round" of the dungeon (closed undead portal, got Ring of Calling, helped the Ormmyrs (sp?) etc.) and have just exited to the surface. I'm not sure what to do next. In other words, if I adventure on from the dungeon, am I missing out on something?

I never found a way to cross the Water glyphs and there was a second glyph I didn't recognize (perhaps the "Dragon" Glyph?) that kept me out of a few rooms.

Have I missed something, or do I just go back into the dungeon later? And where to I find the words to pass these glyphs.

Thanks in advance,

Kev

Rather than ruin the game for you, I will tell you to just keep playing; you have not yet reached the events which give you these words...

However, if'n ya want a spoiler, just look below.

Claw glyph:
Remember in the tower leading up to the room of words (if you have gotten there yet) there is a door on the first floor which is "locked from the other side". Later, you will indeed come through this door from the other side (hall of gems) and this will trigger a conversation with orogs which will get you the word to open the "Claw" (cruel) glyph doors. Getting through the two glyph doors in the halls of light will be your first job. There is also a third cruel glyph in the deep halls, but wait to open this one until you meet the ormyr king in the marsh above ground. Eventually, through the deep halls cruel glyph door you'll get the water word.

Word of song: You will find this in the "garden" area above ground. There is a fountain there where you receive a quest to "retrieve the water bells" (for which you will need the word of water) and just above it is a little platform which collapses if you stand on it (shows as a stair icon on the big map), taking you to the area where you find the song word.

There ya go.

Thanks for the tip and the spoiler consideration. I'm the type that if I buy the help guide I'll use it before playing the game and miss out on the "discovery" angle of the adventure.

P.S. It took all my willpower not to read your entire post!

My pleasure.

I myself have ruined many a game by using the spoilers to see what I should be doing instead of finding what I missed.

Ruins a game almost as much a cheating up a character... an activity which has puzzled me since the "Legends of Lore" days, when I tromped through the game with two-ton, fifty-foot tall characters and had no fun what-so-ever. Omnipotence has limited pleasures, as any self-respecting diety will tell you.
