Fast XP boosting how to do it

Post by Yersinia Pestis »

I have just discovered a quick way to get almost unimited XP very quickly.
No killing summoned monsters or the other good, but limited, methods in the XP strategy section.

My method is a simple variation on the tip on how to get multiple items by exporting and re-importing characters.

Here is how it is done. I only did this in multiplayer; have not tested in standard game.

1. Save the game at a point just before you are going to earn a big XP bonus
eg. just before leaving Irenicus prison in chapter 1 will do.
2. Walk out and everyone gets the 34000 odd XP.
3. Without saving, export each character.
4. Load the game saved at 1., but delete each character and import the characters exported at 2.
5. Walk out again, bingo another 34000XP
6. Repeat

Notes:
I first did this at the point you give the letter confirming Maevar is a traitor to Redscalp in the Docks. I did it 10 times in a row. The only trick is that if you need an item (the letter) before the NPC will talk to you you need to import 'copies' of it from your saved characters file.
I did this by importing 6 of the one character that had the letter and dropping them on the floor for later and saving the game. Careful you don't overwrite your current playing file though. With a little organisation you can repeat this forever.
The best one I have found so far is the 200,000 you get for Yoshimos heart!

I may not be the first to discover this XP trick, but I have not seen it written anywhere here.

Enjoy, and happy XP boosting

Well, good for you. Yet, you'll soon discover that in a similar way, you can create a party of demigods, which are 120% Magic, Fire, Cold and Electricity resistant, with all stats 25, permanent AC -26, Immune to +1 weapons and less, armed with the most powerful items in the game, which can be copied as many as you want. But is there a point in playing such a game? In short, import/export is considered cheating, but I guess to each his own.

There are, however, other, more honest ways to gain great quantities of xp without resorting to import/export or save/reload...

Indeed, and apart from that. If you want XP...
CLUAConsole anyone? :D
Sage plays a paladin,
because other classes would be frowned upon for laying their hands on a wounded companion

If you look at my post in Klorox's thread about dual-classing tricks, you will find that you can get a superhuman even more easily. However, if you used such a character, it would spoil the game completely. IMO you gain nothing by cheating. Of course, we all have different opinions as to what constitutes cheating. To some it is cheese, to others using the console, to others importing and exporting. You will have to make up your own mind for yourself.

Welcome to the forums, Yersinia Pestis. Good to have you here. But as you've already discovered, we've been around since 2000, and many of our members over time have found just about every power cheat or cheese in the book. Most of them are less interested in creating godlike characters than in ramping up the difficulty level to cope with their understanding of the game.

Feel free to read the walkthroughs and use our search function to find answers to BG2 questions you might have; also, ask questions or answer them, when they arise.

Since this thread does neither, it's closed. :)
To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.
