What about a Fighter/Mage/Thief?

Post by sgnewguy »

I am beginning to like playing this in Hof mode. Can a F/M/T be good?

Did it.

I did it (some years ago). I did the whole ID1/HoF soloing FTM, but was stuck in HoW-HoF add-on in barbarian camp, where some barbarians ambushed me at the entrance.
Well, it was possible to defeat them one-by-one and leaving the area, but it was boooooring.
Nevertheless, it was nice experience.

Yes, a F/M/T can be good. It's one of the best combinations for soloing the game. However, it needs vast amounts of XP, so it's best used in high XP games (Insane, HoF) or games in which you play with less than a full complement of characters. You can get by with it as your main (only) thief, but I wouldn't use it as your main fighter or mage.
When your back is against the wall... the other guy is in a whole lotta trouble.

If you want an easy HoF solo it's the right choice.
In a party of 6 he levels too slowly to reach full mage power, but he can be a nice backup for a cleric9/mage.

I like a f/m/t for a party of 6 if in Hof mode. The thief is adequate. Archer skills are quite good. Mage spells below level 6 are really that's all you need.
