Putting back the ‘saved files’ PC XP

I have a PC, XP
I was able removed my ‘saved files’ to a safe location, to uninstall the game. Now that I have reinstalled the game, I placed my saved files back, yet when I go to load a game, there are no saved games to load.

Where do you place the saved files? I uninstalled the game because I have stopped playing for a while. Now I want to play a saved game, I can’t.

If you put them back in the same place that they were before, everything should be fine (I'm assuming you put it in C:\My Documents\Oblivion)

If I remember right, you need to start a new game first, so that way the game starts looking in the My Documents\Oblivion area, and then you should be able to exit out and start up your old game again.

It goes you, the dirt, the worms inside of the dirt, Popo's stool, Kami, then Popo.

Starting saved files

I'm doing something wrong, and I'm not sure what. I started a new games, and exit out and saw where the saved files were to make certain I had them in the right place. I replaced my old files with the news ones, by removing the new ones. Still, there in nothing to load with my old files. I know my old files are filled with stuff, because I checked.

Is there anything I can try?

I know what I did

Ok, I know now what I did. When I put the game saved file onto my desktop, I renamed the file. (I played this game several times already)
When I placed the file back into the game, the right file name is: "saves". That was the problem. I had "save".

Now I have it up and running again. I wanted to post this for those do the same, examine the file name when placing it back into the game.

Anyway, thank you for your help. I should have known better!
