Changing Class, Skills, Birthsign...part way through the game. please help.

Post by Armadillo Rage »

HI, i'm Part way through the game morrowind, been playing for about 2 weeks and got into modding a little. i made my own race and it works great! but i didnt know the game at all when i started my character...i changed her race to my own race via the "enableracemenu" command in the consol. it worked fine. but i want to give her the class made for the race and the birthsign for it too.
I tried "enableclassmenu" and it takes away all my spells. now, that i can live with, i can just buy them again. but it doesnt change anything!! and i modified the races skill bonus because it was making the marksman skill to high for that character (not an archer) and it didnt go down on the character..
the birthsign is able to change fine. although i have no idea how to make an image for it.

i saw a post on this forum where someone succeded in changing their major and minor skills so i know its possible. i just need help.
sorry to bother anyone with questions that may seem easy. i did search the internet for an answer for a good hour before posting this.

ANY help would be appreciated so much.

The only way to safely change you race, class ect is to start a new game. However I think the command you're looking for is "reviewstatsmenu"

Welcome to Gamebanshee. I'm Ml, I've been modding Morrowind for nearly two years now so if you need any help post a thread or PM me. You may be interested in my sticky at the top of the forum. It might give you further help with your problem.

Here's a template for the birthsign. Just mark some white dots on it then join them like dot to dot.

EDIT: Sorry I forgot the link.

ps. i cant see a template for the star sign...

EDIT: i tried the command "reviewstatsmenu" but it told me that that isnt a command.

If you go into the CS help file the command should be under script functions.

I couldn't find any reference to "reviewstatsmenu" anywhere, I can't remember seeing it before either.

Changing Major or Minor skills can only be changed in the Construction Set (CS) and only with classes that exist in the CS, not custom classes. If you've created a class in the CS then you should be able to change the skills.

If you need to amend the skills or attributes in game, the commands are either

Player->set*** # which changes he stat to the number. *** being the skill or attribute and # being the number you desire to set it to; e.g. Player->setMarksman 30 will change your Mrksman skill to 30.

Alternatively, Player->mod*** +/- # adds or subtracts # to or from the existing value; e.g. Player->modMarksman 20 adds 20 to the current skill level, Player->Marksman -20 deducts 20.

??? what this person has done is pretty much what i want to do. i can bring up the menu you see right at the beginning of the game when you pick your skills. its how i changed my race. you can change your name, everything you picked right at the start. but my problem is that after i click ok...my class name and my major and minor skills stay the same.
and, i modified the skill in the construction set and it didnt change on the character that is that race.

thanks for the help

Unfortunately changing an attribute or skill's value in the CS after starting a game will not effect the game that is in progress. Changing a class skill from one category to another in the CS works, but not values. The only way to change the values in an existing game is by using the console, as described in my previous post.

I have read somewhere that by changing the save game file's extension from .ESS to .ESP, and moving it to the Data folder allows you to edit the game in the CS, but I never got it to work, despite trying several times. The result each time was a corrupted save file.
