Mod search for dual combos

Post by Shimrod »

Hi there - nice to see there's still an active board for this game.

Anyway...I have looked through quite a few mods, but haven't found *exactly* what I'm looking for.

Ranger-Mage multi/dual. Starting with a kit would make me even happier.
Ranger-Druid, Ranger-Thief. Same as above.

The holy grail would be the ability to dual *into* a kit.

Has anyone run across workable mods allowing these things?

You can edit the 2DA files using near infinity (Near Infinity) yourself to allow for those dual's.
I cannot guarantee all will work, as some classes are hardcoded/tougher to play around with, however, considering all the classes you mention are already able to dual into something, I don't think you should have a problem.
When you do, be mindful that dualling a Ranger requires extraordinary high stats..

As for the 'dualling into a kit' issue, you can use shadow keeper to change your kit. (Ie if you have for instance a Ranger dualled to Mage and you want to have a Ranger-Conjurer, just select Conjurer as your kit)
I sometimes do this if I want a fighter/assassin multi.

I cannot direct you to any mods which allow this, but as I said - it's not too challenging to do it yourself with near infinity. Alternative would be to run some searches on some other boards - most notably the modding sites. G3 comes to mind (The Gibberlings Three).

Dualling from a kit to a kit is hardcoded, unfortunately.

This is not precisely what you are looking for, but some of the kit mods allow you to combine the benefits of two classes(Ranger and Mage, Archer and Thief) in one. For example, Six's Kitpack with the Mystic Marksman, Spellshafter and Sniper.

While double kits are not possible per say, you can mimic the kit in the original 'kit' for a class to get the desired effect.

Ie, if you want an kensai/assissin multi, you grant the kensai benefits to the standard fighter (use near infinity to update the 2DA files) and then update your thief kit in Shadow Keeper. Or vice versa. Then you have a Kensai/Assassin multi.

Of course, all your NPCs with a fighter class would also get the Kensai benefits...

Considering that any multiclass with a mage in it that has a kit (via shadownkeeper) automatically gets the kit benefits of a mage class also, it is possible with the above method to create a triple class character with 3 kits.
I thus once had a kensai/conjurer/assassin. Needless to say, this solo run was probably the easiest I ever did, heh. Especially because I also gave him the Inquisitors true sight and dispell magic kit benefits...

When fooling around and tweaking your game, it is usually easier (and more stable) if you do it with near infinity in regards to generic things as above.. (editing an attribute of a single character is of course still best in shadow keeper)
Word of advise though is to create some back-ups of the original files in case you want to revert to the original game set-up or if you accidently screw something up.
