I think greater restoration also does the trick.

hmm.. never thought of trying that... does it have a 100% success chance? I ask becaue the dispel magic spell depends on the level of the caster.

Restoration removes level drains and similar effects, and as I recall does not require a caster check, unlike Dispell. It does fatigue the recipient if I'm not mistaken. Not sure if it will remove Confusion.

You can also try any of the mind affecting spells as well although, I generally prefer protection prior to the encounter rather than removal of effect after one.

I've tried Restoration recently, and it doesn't remove Confusion. Sadly.

But it does tire the user, unless you use a mod to stop that.

It does remove confusion but it does not remove the animation. The spell description even states that it does remove confusion.

I tried it as recently as a month ago, when Jaheria was confused. Restoration did nothing to return her to sanity. It wasn't just the animation. She stood around, and continued periodically attacking poor Jan. Though after some of his remarks, I admit, I'm not terribly surprised.

I am talking about greater restoration, the 7 level cleric spell, not the croll restoration. Just to avoid any misunderstanding I also believe the spell greater restoration was altered for ToB. For ToB it affects the whiole party so having a cleric with the shield of harmony and ring of free action is a good idea.

Greater restoration does work, yes, and I should have noted that you specified that, earlier: my bad. Lesser restoration, sadly, does not. Nor does dispel. Confusion is one of the worst spells a relatively young party can face, because they lack adequate counters.

Confusion yes, but stun was my pain in the ass. No means to remove it sadly. Spell freedom of movement was suppose to do so when the game was designed, but in the end it did not. And in the game many creatures use stun against you.

Just clarifying... do you mean "dispel magic" spell? It has worked quite a few times for me...

I had my priest PC cast it in a battle quite recently. It nicely got rid of all my side's buffs, but it didn't do anything about the confused state of Jaheira, who just went on slamming everybody with that thrice-cursed three-headed flail. :D Had to reload, since I'd tried dispel as a last resort. In the end, Jaheira still got confused, but she chased Jan and ignored the rest, who focused on the enemies.

Of course, it could be something Jaheira had on her (or a spell she had going) that prevented Dispel from working, too, but I don't know what that would be.

i am sure that you know 'dispel magic' depends on the level of your caster and that of the enemy caster... maybe your PC was not at too high a level (but you have flail of ages on Jaheira, so am guessing you are atleast level 12??) and that the %age chance didnt work in your favor both times? may I ask which encounter this was? (I dont know if I can say anything useful, but am quite curious :D )

You might be right: the level (13, I think) may be the factor. I've been running a few mods that ramp up the AI difficulty, and I might have been facing higher level enemies that was previously the case. This was the sewer encounter with that mage-led party. Killed the rest, but he caught three of my group with Confusion.

What, a cleric and Jaheira and you didn't have Chaotic Commands on everyone Fable? Made that mistake before that very encounter, and suffered the same result, Jaheira killed my PC and I had to reload. I did cast CC the second time though, once bitten and all that.
