Heard about the movie years ago! Did it happen? Nope! Square has been saying their going to make a movie about the FF series for years. Maybe we'll get lucky this time! If not, well... :-(

i like final fantasy alot though ff8 disappointed me terribly
the best game is ff7 the story line is touching and interesting
but
there is that annoying fact that there r too many secrets there that u just cannot figure out alone things that r exreamly bizzare or difficult
all of those u need to do with no information of what or how u need to do....
ff7 is the best
but im quitting the ff series cause i think that the next games r going to be stupid like ff8 no story and very short compering to ff7

i love FF series, althought a lot of ppl said ff8 is worse than ff7, in someways it does, but in other ways its better, stroyline in ff7 is hel lot better, but graphics and movies in ff8 is better, at least you can see fingers.

agreeably, ff9 is stupid when i saw the preview, i hate they go back to the crap graphics, animation instead of those in ff8,

That's strange. I didn't much care for FF7 (though I've never played a BAD Final Fantasy game). I thought FF8 was awesome. Can't say anything about FF9 as I haven't played it yet. Randal, the Final Fantasy games have been around for many years now and are regarded by most as best RPGs on the market. As compared to Baldur's Gate they are very linear and have little character customization (at least with the later games). However, their music, cinematics, gameplay, and story are second to none. Well worth your time. The movie is going to rock. I saw the trailer in the theater and it blew my mind. I can't wait for it to come out.

Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf’s a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay.

It's hard to compare Baldurs Gate and The Final Fantasy games. Both give you the freedom of movement.

From a console players view. Ranking 10 being the highest(Best) and 1 being the lowest(Worst)

*Beyond the Beyond = 2
*Wildarms = 5
*7th Saga = 5
*Zelde (all) = 9
*Breath of Fire (all) = 8
*FinalFantasy (all) = 9
*Wanders of YS (all) = 7

IMHO

Now I would put...

*Baldurs Gate 1 = 8
*Baldurs Gate 2 = 9
*Icewind Dale = 8

As I said this is just my opinion. I have played more console games than computer. And I combined the Final Fantasy games together....separated some of them would have hit a 10.

FF7 was a very good game, FF8 was an inevitable dissapoinment. FF7 definately raised the bar when it came to RPG's (at least on consoles) when it first came out. Awesome characters + great story = excellent RPG.
As great as the FF series is, I just dont think it can compare to the BG series. You never really know how good something is untill you see something better, this was the case for me with these games. Having completed both FF7 & 8 before playing BG I thought these were the best RPG's but they 'aint. The FF series seems to be targeted at a younger audience than the BG series with its "cute" characters (anime style), whereas BG uses a grittier and more realistic approach with its characters. I prefer the latter just because it gives off a more realistic impression. The FF world is just to sugar-coated.
I also think that BG's approach to battle is much better. I understand the concept behind FF's turn-based format but I think it at least looks a little bit stupid like: "hey Squall, lets all line up in a straight line and take "turns" to hit this monster, dont worry he should just stand there untill its his "turn" to hit us". Its decent ....untill you play BG that is.
BG's combat engine is simply a lot more realistic looking. You can move where you want, run when you want, cast spells/use bows from a distance etc..
In FF there is no advantage to using a ranged weapon because distance is irrelevant. The monster can still hit you because your always standing in the same spot. If one character needs to run from a battle to survive in FF then EVERYONE else has to aswell because everyonr in the party is seemingly joined at the hip.
Some people would like the FF series more but IMO the choice is obvious.

ff-7,8 were a disappointment to me. The thing that really bugged me were the mini games and the stupid cardgame, the worst (have to spend a lot of time with them) and they dont have any replay value in my book.
I'm playing with ff-9 now. But after had finished BG-games I feel that something's missing while playing ff. You dont have any freedom at all. In the combat mode you are just stuck and you dont need any strategy to win just hack your way through.
In my opinion ff-battle mode is obselete and maybe Squaresoft should update the combat mode instead of what they did with the way character learns new skill.

My favorite ff-game is ff-3. It's huge (even those it's a snes) and has a great story. I did play it 2-3 times.

Graphic were the only thing the last 3 ff games had. But if you compare with other games in the marked nowaday, so ff in my opinion is just average. I dont know why ff always got lots of praise in game-mag.

the final fantasy series is alright, though i happen to be one of the few people who hate mini games.

but for me the greatest of all of the FF is final fantasy tactics. the story and gameplay just blew me away. the others in the series just don't hold a light to it.

as to comparing it to BGI, all i can say is

two different games, two different gameplay, two different experiences

I have played 4 of the ff games (6, 7, 8, 9) and all of the games just gets better and better, the graphic in ff9 is a little worse then ff8 but The story in ff9 is one of the best in these games, and like in ff8 there is a lot of char. interacting in ff9, and then you get to have 4 char. in your party.

in ff9 they have dumped the GF ability, but they have given you an extra char. to your party total, and two of the total char. can use summon magic!
The only depenable thing about the future is uncertenty!!!

Ive played all the FF games (1-9 and Tactics) and they are really great, but although they are called RPG games I cant compare them with the BG games, there are so many differences... These games represent the eastern and western tipical style of a RPG game...
