I am Amazed!!!!!

I am Amazed!!!!! (please SPAM, it's funner)

But I'm also blond (so keep that in mind, lol)

Back in November i got a gift for myself, a new computer. After not being able to sell my old computer for a decent price (its worth alot more than whats been offered), its just been sitting there collecting dust.... staring at me.

So i finally decided to try and hook up my old monitor, a nice ultra sharp 18' flat screen (my new one is a 20' wide screen flat panel, LOVE IT!) to my new computer and try out dual screens. I got it working and..OMG!!! it is awesome!!! I always seem to have about 2-3 windows up for this site AND i have another site i go to on a daily basis that i end up having multiple pages too, and i constantly keep going back and forth between the pages. Now i can have ALL my pages up (per site, i can only to one site at a time, lol) with just moving the cursor around and now very little flipping of the pages.

I know i must sound like a computer illiterate tard (which I'm really not) but i feel like a kid in a candy store with about $100 to spend :D :D :D

How many of you guys out there in SYM use dual monitors? do you find it helpful or don't really give it a thought? My inquiring mind wants to know.:laugh:
:D Smile.... That way they wont know what your thinking :p

Dual monitors makes life so much easier. I personally have three, kind of. Two monitors connected to a single computer as well as a laptop. Two of the three screens (one connected to the computer and the laptop) usually run games whereas the last one (connected to my computer) runs forums, other sites as well as messengers. It's very convenient as it allows me to play two games at once (I don't really like to wait out loading times without doing anything) and it saves me the hassle of minimizing to check if someone on a messenger wrote anything. Quite convenient indeed.

I use two large monitors at work, and it tends to affect my eyes a bit. After the workday is over I'm extremely daylight-sensitive and tear up at once when leaving the office. Still, it's a fantastic way to work. Wouldn't want it at home, though. :)

Would you give up sex for six months for a dual-monitor setup?

Sorry, I couldn't resist. :)

As for me, I don't use dual monitors (or tripple, or quadruple, or ...). :p I use multiple computers. I have 2 of them and I'm planning on getting a 3. one. It's better 4 me than 2 or more monitors. And I can play multiplayer at home with my friens this way. ;)
  :p ;) :D :o :( :)

Because she does not farm. I however do. Look:

I tried dual monitors once but I couldn't find how to re enable my on-board graphics chip. It doesn't appear in the hardware viewer. :(

If I could re enable it I'd definitely do it though. I have a spare 15" dell monitor which would do okay for IM while I'm gaming.

@mage: whats your OS and graphic card? these are the steps i followed to get mine to work...

shut down computer

connect both monitors

turn on computer

go into your graphics card control panel (should be able to get there through display settings)

now there should be something about setting up multiple monitors or enabling clone mode.
( if you have a dual graphics card, i think your supposed to disable the multi-GPU technology)

but without knowing your OS and graphic card i cant be certain this will work for you.

i run vista and a gforce 8600 gts graphics card

I run XP media and I have a geforce 8500. My problem is that my intel chip on my mother board has disappeared and won't reappear on the hardware manager even if I plug the other monitor in.

have you gone into display settings and clicked on advanced? that was one of the ways i get to the NVIDIA control panel, the tab might say geforce 8500. and in the NIVIDIA contol panel is where i was able to change everything.
