I've read that multiplayer is buggy, but how well does it work with Collector's Edition? Playable? What's the problems?
And generally speaking, is it any good? I'd like to try with my friend as one hard ass fighter and another buffer (healer + rogue)?
All answers are welcome.
CE Multiplayer
From what I've seen in these forums, quests always break in multiplayer, and so people can't finish the campaign. But walking around killing monsters seems to work fine. The CE didn't change anything in this regard.

Sir Edmund: "Should you obey the lord who asks you to put a village of innocents to the torch? Is that chivalrous? Is it noble?"
Me: "It's a great way to get promoted, I know that much."

I'm not sure I can totally answer this for you...
However, my girlfriend and I play this game in MP together.
We only ever play the game in MP and never play Single player.
We haven't finished the game yet, but we've gotten through a lot of it so far with our first characters (Plan on doing it all again a few times with other characters). We're currently in the Shadow Ruins for the first time.
So far, we encounter a few annoying things, but mostly it has just been the fact that she (Since I am the Host) always has to set up her toolbar with her potions and such whenever we start and her Map resets every session as well.
Somewhat recently, in the Forbidden Lands, we started experiencing our first examples of much more annoying bugs.
There have been a few enemies that are completely invisible to her.
It has only happened at two instances thus far.
Once with Big Bad Mogg and his buddies (Which was frustrating... she could not see them, but she could hack them as I helped guide her blade with my spells) and one other time with the Stone Athena Guards on a chess-like board.
That was not a problem at all fortunately and this problem hasn't come up any other times... yet.
Seriously, we play the game exclusively in multi-player and love it... so, maybe that gives you hope.
We have a blast and hopefully won't run into anything that puts an end to this.
Albeit... the toolbar and map issues would drive me nuts. Since we play in the same house/room and can communicate easily, it's not a big deal for her.
Best of luck!

Yes , the game can be finished in MP mode in CE edition. My partner and I did it. However, there are some buggy issues, more annoying than game stopping.
One major thing to note is end game sequence. When trying to free Galadryn from the barrier after killing off all the bag guys, we couldnt get the barrier to break. We had to reload the game a couple times from last save and use the Horn Relic untill it finallly worked. The tool bar and map resets are totally annoying but not fixable that I am aware of. The invisibles sometimes become visible with a total exit from game and a restart from last save.
Have fun and good luck,
