Is anyone tired of this game getting compared to "Oblivion"?
Hi. I put off buying this game for a year because every review I read...and I mean EVERY review...compared it to "Oblivion". I haven't gotten far in the game but other than the interface, I think it deserves to stand alone. I gave up on Oblivion because I didn't enjoy completing quests. I had more fun just looting caves and since Oblivion doesn't grant experience, completing quests is basically for gold, reputation, and maybe an item better than the one you already have. In Two Worlds, it's worth the hike completing a quest if you're just shy of gaining a level and being rewarded that level up sound upon completion. Isn't that the purpose of questing? I think the graphics in Two Worlds also feel less cartoonish than Oblivion. Oblivion did have gorgeous landscapes but the people, especially the elves, had a cartoonish look. I'm sure this topic has been addressed before but I hope other people who have put off buying this game thinking its an Oblivion clone will do otherwise. Thanks.

With respect, you're looking in the wrong end of the telescope. It's not that Two Worlds is being compared all the time to Oblivion; it's that the kiddie reviewers who bought into Bethsoft's smoooth PR campaign now compare Oblivion to every action RPG that appears. It does succeed in one respect, however: if you see it in a review, you know you can pretty much stop reading and look elsewhere for intelligent content.

Of course they do. The reviewers didn't give it the highest ratings. So whom do you quote? The developers, comparing their own title to a certifiable hit. That doesn't prove anything, however, because it isn't relevant.

Well right off the bat, when I saw:
HUDREDS OF WEAPONS, HUNDREDS OF (this) AND (that) in their ads I was like 'lol ya RIGHT', but when they claimed this was 'the most epic RPG ever' that was the last straw. Lets see how far off the mark they are...and let me tell you they were far. REALLY far.
Seriously how can you NOT compare this to oblivion, and that's a compliment.
In fact the only thing this and Oblivion have in common is that there is tons of green between missions. And thats that. Im no Oblivion fanboi by a long shot but comparing this to it? Is like comparing the Mona Lisa to an Archie comic book. TW is really bad is what im getting at.

I like it better
I got burned out on Oblivion, and actually find I like Two Worlds better.
I will admit though I have built a new system since my oblivion days and this ne rig is a gamers delight. I should try Oblivion now on all the new higher detail settings.

Have you ever considered that the sole reason for your existance is to merely serve as a warning to others?
In my opinion two worlds is MUCH better than oblivion. It is a similar game but it is more like Dungeon Lords than Oblivion.
No offense but I had to laugh at the hyperbole of Oblivion = mona lisa and Two Worlds = Archie Comic book. In my view Oblivion is like Red Delicious apples and Two Worlds is like a ripe Cantelope.

Actually, I would more see it as Two worlds is a six thousand dollar leather jacket, and oblivion is the pocket lint inside.
Listen up maggots, Mr. Popo's 'bout to teach you the pecking order.
It goes you, the dirt, the worms inside of the dirt, Popo's stool, Kami, then Popo.

two worlds has a different feel
I have two worlds and oblivion and I have to say they are nothing alike Ienjoy both of them for different reasons. Oblivion is very well put together in graphics and storyline yes very slick and pretty lots to do and lots of quests.
A very good game.
However while two worlds may be a bit rough around the edges it has several things i feel over oblivion first the feel of the land to me its a much more alive
place with sounds of nature all around and a raw natural feeling i just dont get with oblivion.
second the amount of monsters and creatures in two worlds blows oblivion out of the water i enjoy fighting and watching several kinds of creatures in
stead of a handful.
third the tribe system in two worlds i like better having common foes istead of all races being friends is much more exciting to me.
and lastly alot of the side quests are just as good as oblivion and i believe this game is probably more like gothic 3 than oblivion anyway.
Its a harder game to get into and a think alot people maybe quit to soon because its not beautifully stunning like oblivion however it has a lot more feel to it if you give it a chance and play it for a while it really starts to grow on you . I like them both but maybe ilike two worlds slightly more.
