when in water how do you dive down

I can only float and swim in the naga temple to get the eye i had to let myself be killed so i could be under the water. has to be a secrect to swiming down vs floating or treading water. I am about to go to the temple where i have to go inder to a chest and get a key.

you have to unlock the camera by pressing z. then simply "look" down with the mouse. look up or press space bar to rise back to the top.
