Rescuing Imoen First

When get out of Irenicus' dungeon I usually have enough money and power to go grab Imoen right off the bat, but I never have, is their any draw backs to doing this? Like do I miss any quests this way? Any items? Any thing at all?

if i understand correctly you say that you have the 20,000 gold after irenicus dungeon, and you ask if you miss any quests/banters, if you do NOT take the shadowthiefs/bodhis offer directly


then a simple no would fit this question
furthermore, all quests in athkatla and surrounding can done early in act II & III
or later when you return from spellhood

there are 4 areas in the map where you cant return,
these are Brynnlaw, Spellhood, City of Caverns, Underdark and you cant return to Irenicus Dungeon


even at the elven city you can go back to any other location, just the final level prevents you from going back, but this is pretty obvious

Hm, I haven't tried this but there are two things to consider.

Quest experience, items
You can come back to do the quests in and around Athkatla and grab whatever you want any time, although these challenges might prove too easy if your level is higher than it would be should you do them before Spellhold. As far as I know, you can't get back to the city without going through the Underdark, and that, together with Spellhold, gives a lot of xp points.

Besides, the loot in Spellhold/UD is suitable for higher levels. Take the scrolls, for example. If you are not high enough level to learn them, you will have to carry them around for a long time, which may be inconvenient.

Story line
I wonder if lingering around the city for too long with your soul in Irenicus' posession may have some irreversible consequences...?

No you don't, unless you've employed a cheat. The game is structured in such a way that you can't even come close to the amount required by the Shadow Thieves at the start of chapter 2. All the chapter 2 quests are a way of helping you get that coin so you can go for her in chapter 3.

As for when to go and rescue her, this has been the subject of several dozen comments here already, in previous threads. Plenty of opinions, all well reasoned. Since the site owner doesn't allow duplicate threads (he says they slow the board down), please use the search function on "Imoen" or "rescue," to find these. Thanks.
