Well... right now I am trying to finish three books (getting harder to find time reading...). One is "Hearts in Atlantis" by S.King. Second is "Half asleep in our frogpijamas" by T.Robins and the third is - don't flame me on that Image- "Mein Kampf" by... nonethelss, Adolf Hitler.
Next I have bought the latest by Salman Rushdi and Xiao Xi Yiang, and also "Virtual Light" by W. Gibson (just came out in Greek).
Also I have a three book series about the history of the Balkans in the middle age (450-1000 A.C.) but this has to wait.

David Gemmel, it's all a little bit predictable, but i enjoy his writing style.

Richard Laymon, Fantastic pace and beleivable characters. Currently Finishing a book of his, but i can not remember the title.

Dean Koontz, One of hte best writers of tension there is.

Elmore Leonard, sharp, witty and beleivable characters.

James Ellroy, possibly the most horrific of writers anyone could read, try it and your food will never quite taste the same. Image

Philip K ****, Only read Electric Sheep as of yet, i find it dificult to find many of his novels.

Ben Elton, writes books a lot better than his stand-up.

There are more but their names escape me......

@Ubik: is Heart of Atlantis good??
I read a lot of S.King when I was younger, and has not read much of his later work.

And how about "Mien Kampf" - I've often thought about that one myself, but some other books has always got in the way?

@Xandax: Machiavelli's The Prince and The Discourses (hope this is correct spelling) are both fun to read. Image

My favorite is Fernand Braudel's The Mediterranean and the Mediterranean World in the Age of Philip II . It's a huge thesis, but great pleasure to read, and Braudel gave me different ways to see history.

@Ubik.."Hearts in Atlantis" by S.King is in my opinion one of the best books S. King has written in a while.

I'm ebarrassed to say I am reading two textbooks at the moment. One on archeology, one on jack the ripper. If I'm reading to learn...I generally jump right in and get a text.

Favorite fiction: LOTR trilogy, and possibly A Prayer for Owen Meany. Also enjoy Poe, Lovecraft, and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. For non fiction: Stephen Jay Gould.

Well so far it has certainly got the right ingredients to become a "kick a$$ serie".....
Once I had begun reading the first book I just couldn't stop reading........how many books are there supposed to be in the serie????
I hope it doesn't end up like Robert Jordan's "Wheel of time".....that serie started off so good....but now..... Image

@Mr Sleep: Do androids dream of electric sheep (upon it is based the film "Blade Runner") is one of P.K.D-i-c-k's (the damn thing is gonna censore it otherwise) better books. You should try some more: Ubik (yes, the one I got my name from) The Three stigmata of Palmer Eldridge (I think this is his best) Man on the high castle (very good too) and many short stories ("We remember it for you, wholesale" and "The second variety" jump in mind right now).

@Weasel and Xandax: Well, I prefer the horror writing King than the other one ( Image) but still HoA is a good novel. My King's favorite is "The Shining" (I loved the movie too).
