Its the top most room on the second floor (the one that doesn't have a set of stairs). It has the chest with the documents that you need to bring to Renal.

I posted an earlier location that was incorrect, and removed it, after reloading the game.

The second floor does have a set of stairs, far to the right, in the large lockpicking room. (They take you up to Edwin.) But you are correct, Mae'var's bedroom is on the second floor.

When you arrive from below, there are two doors: one to your right, and one straight ahead. Take the one that's straight ahead, and you'll be in Mae'var's bedroom. As I recall, his papers are to the left when you enter his room. If you've got ToB installed, you should be able to hit Tab and highlight the container.
To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.

Exactly. Fable just added [concise] and [clear] tags to my post. ;)

from Edwin, go down the internal stairs, across the lock-picking room and through the door.

Just to repeat the others in a different way.

Inside Maevar's Hall there is a floor that contains dozens of doors lying against the walls, nearby with a thief named Anishai. Looking around you will find a bedroom (a room with a bed) containing a desk and a small cabinet.
