Rune Symbols in Planar Sphere

Is there any way to solve the space with four runes on the floor puzzle other than trial-and-error or reading the walkthrough on Gamebanshee? Because I could not find any hints in the game or manual to suggest what the correct order would be. All the other puzzles in the game usually can be solved by some thinking about the clues given in the game. If trial-and-error is the only way, then I must say that I'm very disappointed in Bioware's implementation of this particular part of Planar Sphere. Their other puzzles are so wonderful, which in contrast really puts this weird puzzle to shame.

If seen properly,the four runes do look like numbers.I guess that's the clue

I found that odd too. I didn't even see the resemblance to numbers. Bit poor compared to some of the Asylum puzzles.

The one with the T,I assumed meant 1,the one at the side with the wavy pattern looks like a 3 side-ways,the one opposite of it looks like a 4 sideways,the bottom sign doesn't ressemble anything

,so I'd assume that it was a 2
