How do you do this part? I'm having difficulty moving fast enough to nail these guys.

Never had much trouble (you might want to change the speed of your controls or similar), however a "trick" is that you can start shooting before the screen has loaded fully.
So because of how the enemy planes are placed to begin (all in the same location directly in front of your guns) with you can get a handful of them before you actually start loading.

So just start shooting as soon as the game starts to load the screen - could make it easier for you.

Are you using your radar? They typically start flying at you in a straight line, before they shoot at you. Just use your radar to find someone who is moving in a straight line towards you and turn to shoot them.
Always remember you're unique ... just like everyone else.

Another tip is to target and fire ahead of the enemy instead of lining up your cross-hairs exactly at the enemy. To be honest, though, I really wished that the turret has an automatic firing rate instead of having to constantly keep pressing the fire button. Will surely make these sequences easier to bear.

Clicking in a frenzy immediately from the loading screen as suggested helps cut the number of fighters pretty much by about half.

Shooting leading the fighter is good advice for shooting anything that does not rely on any form of attack roll to hit. Some practice would allow you to judge the leading distance accurately.

Also, the fighters generally fly around at the edge of your range (sometimes out of range) before coming in for a strafing run and then retreat out of range again. Unless you are actively shooting at a fighter, take note of the radar and note any dots that are moving towards the center and turn towards the nearest one. Target only those fighters that are coming in towards you; let any that have finished the strafing run go and change target (unless it is flying a straight line in your gun sight of course). All this should help increase your chance of scoring hits.

Remember, you are defending, so don't go "chasing" a target that's running away. Instead, sit back, stay cool, keep your eyes on the nearest red dot and give any one coming close a quick 2-3 mouse clicks.
