Has anyone else ever had this problem? I tried reinstalling BGII for a new play-through, but the computer seems to want to play for me. It automatically skips through the first screens that usually come before the New Game/Load Game/ etc screen; something that, as far as I know, can only be accomplished by pushing keyboard buttons or clicking the mouse (which I am not doing). When I create a new game, everything goes well until I go to enter the character's name. The computer then does everything from simply creating a neverending line of spaces (which can't be backspaced on) to typing in random letters and numbers from all over the board. When I choose that odd, unpronouncable name that was picked for mel; the intro scene occurs, but the game immediately goes to inventory afterwards and refuses to let me quit to the regular screen for more than a few seconds.
I've tried changing keyboards and it hasn't worked. I've also noticed that this is the only application that the problem occurs on. None of my discs are burned or downloaded or tampered with in any way; they're all original BGII Black Isle discs. Any help is appreciated

I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the game several times and it's done nothing. I don't see how updating drivers would change anything as I've played BGII numerous times on the same computer and never had a problem until now.

It sounds as if you could have a damaged or dirty disc. You could first try cleaning it. If that doesn't work, some shops do repairs. That though, is a last resort. A third option is to do a system restore to a time when it did work. That may not be an option if it was some time ago since it worked.
