I've just started playing this game, but there are a couple of things that's been bothering me. First, for some reason other people in the party often can't hand my main character items through the inventory screen. The strange thing is that occasionally, they can. Second, I've been getting diseased, but the lowered ability scores don't seem to be wearing off even after heal and repeated rests. Is it just a time issue? Thanks in advance!

Transfer items:
When an item is on the body of a character then dragging it to the portrait of another character will NOT work. However if it is in the inventory and not in a body slot you should be able to drag it to another character.
EDIT: so first drag from body to inventory and let it go there. Then drag from inventory to other char portrait.
Disease:
Resting doesn't cure disease afaik (maybe you get a fortitude check but I don't think). To cure a disease visit a healer or have a cleric/druid cast cure disease or spell with that effect.
In the beginning of the original campaign you can find healing kits. If you make a heal check you can cure the disease (I believe vs an opposed DC). If you are not in combat (doesn't say you cannot rest after such an exertion and music returns to normal), then your roll is automatically 20 and even a wisdom 8 char with no healing skill can cure a disease. But if you want to heal in combat you need the heal skill and pass the roll. Or cast a spell cure disease or drink a potion cure disease. More points in healing also heals more damage when you use a kit.

Right Speech has four aspects: 1. Not lying, but speaking the truth, 2. Avoiding rude and coarse words, but using gentle speech beneficial to the listener, 3. Not slandering, but promoting friendliness and unity, 4. Avoiding frivolous speech, but saying only what is appropriate and beneficial.
Actually disease is a 2-step process.
1st you start with the disease (which fortunately isn't communicable from your character). This can be removed with either a cure disease spell, (spell-like ability or potion), OR a healing kit and making the "save". The only other way is to make a fortitude save as it progresses (which is automatic, i.e. you either make it or you don't). This time-period is often referred to as the incubation period and has a green cloud-like effect on the character that has contracted the disease.
2nd after the disease has "set" (no greenish cloud) and your ability scores are "permanently" lowered (if you don't make a fortitude save which is again automatic) - the only way to remove those lowered scores is with a full (*not lesser*) restoration spell (or spell-like ability, or potion) - NOT with a healing kit.
Note that some temple priests that can offer healing usually can heal both.

Interesting. I always use the healing kit immediately once the battle music is over. Theres even a quick action button default to using healing kit on the action bar.

Thanks for the replies. A priest has restored the attributes, but isn't the relative permanence of it somewhat severe? Oh well.
On the other hand... the item transferring is still glitchy. Things like gems or potions that are clearly not on the body are still being rejected. I have to resort to dropping on the ground and then have another char pick it up, which is rather inconvenient...

Thats strange! I would install all the patches for one thing. Hit Update when you load. You should be able to transfer items.
If you use the healing kits initially you won't have to pay a healer.
