Morning guys... finally getting round to playing Oblivion... heard lots of great things and so far not been disappointed...
Question. Started the game, and went to Cheydinhall (sp?) rather than following the main quest. Got embroiled in quest relating to Corruption in the city. Followed it upto the bit where you've got to choose whether to find the evidence in Ulrich's room, or to lure Ulrich to his death at the hands of disgruntled citizen (lleyandra nevada, or something like that). Never been great with choices, so decided to quit there, and come back to it today.
In the meantime, I wandered around the net looking at sites with hints and tips on how to get the best from Oblivion. Imagine my consternation when I found a couple of sites telling me that you need to do the main quest first, as you need Ulrich to complete main quest, and he dies during Corruption quest in Cheydinhall. Thought whole point of games like Oblivion was freedom to do what you wanted, when you wanted!?!
Anyways, here's the question - should I leave Cheydinhall, go do the main quest, then come back to Cheydinhall to sort out Ulrich, or should I finish Ulrich quest, then go do Main Quest?
Gotta say it does look like it's going to be a cracking game; just hope it's not one of those where you NEED the walkthrough to actually enjoy it!

No, that is never a problem. People who are essential to the game have a crown symbol on them when you pass your cursor over them. They CAN be killed, but never until their purpose in the game is completed. Usually. YOU can't kill them, that is, but they can be killed by others when they are no longer necessary. If they get killed in combat, for example, while still needed, you get a little message saying '(so-and-so) is unconscious'. It can be very handy to have someone like that beside you in a fight!

[QUOTE=Darth Gavinius;1096098]Distrbution of games, is becoming a little like Democracy (all about money and control) - in the end choice is an illusion and you have to choose your lesser evil.
