Visually Guild Wars has its own strengths and weaknesses. Spells are nice and shiny with colourful explosion and several areas do look detailed, but in other areas can look rough. One pleasing touch is the use of wind: things like cloaks and banners, which are traditionally static in any game, move freely based on the strength of the breeze. A calm day will produce the odd ruffle whereas torrential rain accompanied by heavy winds will see everything bounding about. Where it excels is in the atmosphere, nothing is safe and everything appears to be teetering on the brink of ruin from either nature's forces or some massive band of monsters. Clothes and buildings are worn, tattered, dull and fit for a good cleaning.
