The General Administration of Press and Publication (GAPP) is still discussing whether to approve the release of "Wrath of the Lich King," the second expansion of The9's (Nasdaq:NCTY) licensed MMORPG World of Warcraft, reports 163.com quoting GAPP Director Liu Binjie from a CCTV-sponsored event on March 12. Liu said the struggle is finding a balance between WLK's "unhealthy" content and protecting the interest of a domestic operator.
The9 told GAPP on Wednesday that it would go bankrupt if the regulator refused to approve the expansion, said Liu. The Shanghai-based game company announced that it had licensed the World of Warcraft expansion from Blizzard Entertainment in April 2008.
The9's technology and customer service departments have been working overtime in an effort to release a "masterpiece," likely "Wrath of the Lich King," on March 31, reports yesky.com quoting "reliable" sources.
