"We thought a great deal about dungeons during our design process," Miller said. "What makes a dungeon a dungeon? What sorts of experiences make dungeon-delving fun and what kinds of stuff did we hate? We didn't want to just make an underground warren with lots of random mobs -- we wanted to create a cohesive space that tied in with the game's lore and offered terrain and intellectual challenges in addition to just fighting monsters." To that end, the dungeons of Eye of the North will be filled with obstacles such as secret passages, traps, location-based challenges and end-level boss fights that include environmental challenges. The example Miller gave was of the classic undefeatable boss who must be destroyed by bringing down the roof.
