City of Heroes Previews

Today brings us another pair of previews for Cryptic Studios' City of Heroes, based upon the ongoing beta. The first is at ActionTrip:
Another unique feature is that if a hero falls in combat, and no one they are with can revive them, they are teleported to the closest medical center. Instead of having the player's stats stunted for a time period as in other games, the hero incurs a debt for the revival. When the hero returns to the streets to dispatch bad guys, part of his normal experience reward goes to pay off this debt. Once the debt is paid ff, all of the experience goes towards the hero's next level. It's an interesting alternative to the death penalty in other games.

And the second is at Stratics:
How deep can this game go? Well the game is based around contacts. You start off with a basic one, and they hand you off to the next one when they feel you are ready, and so on. This way, you're always dealing with new NPCs, new mission types, new enemies, etc. It's extremely difficult to get bored in this sort of environment. The developers have stated the storyline of the game will be a living history.big events, and even team or hero interaction with enemy groups will change the way those groups react! When the game goes live, it's very possible that famous heroes may end up on newspapers or even as a statue!
