Fallout 3 will employ a version of Bethsoft's Radiant AI, which will translate into a world where interactions will take place in front of you, with NPCs having activities and schedule instead of just being rooted in place. It appears there will be a few hundred in total. The smaller number (compared to about 1,500 in Oblivion) will allow for a higher degree of personalization; one reflection of this should be dialogues that seem more natural.
