The Rune-keeper is a form of hybrid class. They can play the role of an offensive DPS class or a more passive healer-type. It all depends on the group and how they act within it. As they act more like a mage, their focus moves towards that. The shift improves their performance on offense, but limits their more group oriented abilities. The opposite is true if they go the healer route. Unlike many classes where this choice is made at (birth,) the Rune-keeper can shift back and forth from group to group or encounter to encounter. They're the Swiss Army Knife of LotRO classes.
