The world system is very smart: the world is divided into several (districts) that act as a copy of a single but identical town for example. This enables countless number of players in the same area of the game without any lag or slowdown. There are three types of areas in the game: Cooperative missions, explorable areas and towns (also called outposts or cities). You can travel to the mission areas and towns instantly if you have been there at least once. This eliminates the walking back and forth for a quest for hours and makes the game much more fun to play. Most of time in the game you will be playing cooperative missions: that's where you will move forward the story and complete quests. As you might have guessed, they are not called cooperative missions for nothing: you can (and you are suggested to) bring other party members by simply inviting other players to join you to battle against enemies you find in the mission. The more players you have, the better are the chances your party will last longer and possibly win the mission without a sweat. However, the game was also designed in a way that if you go into a mission alone, you will not be facing as many enemies as with 5 other party members. You can also hire henchmen, which are AI driven characters, when you can't find any more party members or when you just feel like playing solo with some extra help of a Monk for its healing skills for example. Missions usually allow up to 6 party members for loads of fun.
