One of the best things about Fable is how your physicality changes depending on your actions, reflecting the utter permanence of your choices in life. The more you pursue swordplay, the more the muscles on your character will develop. The more magic you use, the more your skin will age and hair will turn white. Your choices in combat, whether you use magic, fire a bow, or indulge in sword combat, are done in real time as you face the various enemies or creatures that surround the world's towns. You can use any of these skills against the villagers as well, but given the permanent effects of your behavior, you may want to think twice before taking on the friendly characters. Murder makes you an outcast, but that might be your intention in the first place. Fortunately, what isn't permanent is the game state when you revert to a saved game, so you can start over or start entirely different characters on a whim. The richness of the game is that it is never the same, no matter how many times you play it.
