All in all, X-Men Legends does a good job with the comic license, so fans--be they casual or otherwise--will probably enjoy the game's attention to detail. The gameplay, while perhaps a bit easier than it should be, is also great. Finally, it also does a good job with the standard action RPG formula that was popularized by games like Dark Alliance. But most importantly, it's an entertaining game with a story that you'll want to see through to its conclusion.
The second is at IGN PS2 with an overall score of 8.4/10:
X-Men Legends doesn't really impress technically in terms of sound or visuals, but it's really all about the combat anyway. The fighting is simple, addictive, and enjoyable throughout the long adventure. It's nice to see the X-Men get their due with a game that truly showcases what has made the comics great for three decades. There are a few things that will annoy people, particularly the accidental suicides, but most of Legends is a joy. The story is good, very fitting for the X-Men universe, and every character but Cyclops is perfectly realized. It's more fun with friends, but is still enjoyable all by your lonesome. With a long, involved story mode and bonus modes beyond that, this one will take up a chunk of your life. X-Men Legends is a must for any X-Men fan or fan of dungeon-crawling RPGs.
And the third is at Next Level Gaming with an overall score of 86/100:
The X-Men series has finally I think found a place to realy shine in X-Men Legends. The action-RPG element really gave Raven Soft the ability to expand on the characters and give you more control than you've ever had with them. The addition of little things like HDTV support don't hurt either. All in all a very solid game, and one that I think you will truly enjoy. This is one to definitely sink some time into. I know I did. And well, I still am. I'm playing levels again with different characters to see the outcome. Anyway, here's to another fine Activision game!
