Hell, even Eurogamer gave it a 9/10:
It's working pretty well for Gearbox, too. Dr Ned and Moxxi's Underdome may have been about busting Borderlands out into strange new splinters, but Knoxx sees the team returning to the core experience and quietly tinkering. There's more polish - NPCs have lip-syncing, cut-scenes are a little more elaborate - but there's also a sense that you're seeing the future of the franchise take shape, and that makes for a dazzling combination.
AtomicGamer gave it an 85%:
As DLC goes, Knoxx is one of the best I've seen ever since the trend of DLC started. It's not the best add-on I've ever played, as that would probably rightfully go to a higher-priced traditional expansion pack (like, say, most of Blizzard's expansion packs and quite a few FPS ones as well), but as DLC goes, it's damn good. I've had a hell of a lot less fun for the same amount of money or more with other expansions, so having the ability to enjoy this content together with friends (and get a new excuse to jump back into Borderlands again) is welcome. If you've been looking for a good reason to re-enter Pandora and start looting and shooting again, spending ten bucks on The Secret Armory of General Knoxx is about as good a reason as you're likely to find.
Bitmob doesn't provide a score:
Thankfully, that's exactly what fans have been demanding, and Secret Armory delivers. As flawed as Borderlands was, there are few co-op experiences that can match the thrill of blasting through the wasteland with a party of friends in search of increasingly ridiculous ordnance. It may not win any awards for originality, but Secret Armory retains the highly-addictive qualities that made Borderlands an unexpected hit without ruining what made the core game so enjoyable. This is one case where (more of the same) is a welcome compliment, and a deserving one at that.
Extreme Gamer gave it an 8.5/10:
Compared to the other two DLC offerings for Borderlands, '˜The Secret Armory of General Knoxx' is the one I would recommend for anyone who haven't jumped into any of the new content yet. Not only does '˜General Knoxx' expand on the ending of the original game, but it offers up a number of new tweaks that work in everyone's favour. Gearbox did an excellent job by meeting several of the requests from the community, while creating some nice unexpected additions (I'm talking about you Crawers). Borderlands is the game that keeps giving, and you will likely enjoy the loot-grabbing extravaganza in General Knoxx's secret armoury.
The Xbox Nerd gave it an 80/100:
Overall, aside from it's faults including long driving segments and a relatively short storyline, The Secret Armory of General Knoxx is a great series of missions for Borderlands fans. The main storyline features a more in-depth approach to characters and some hilarious cutscenes. Especially consider buying if you play with friends as this downloadable content is especially difficult without team members.
Thankless Grind gave it a 4/5:
Just like Borderlands, The Secret Armory of General Knoxx is not without a whole list of weird issues, but also just like Borderlands I still can't help but love it. If they make another 8 hours in a few months, I will happily continue to play these basically indefinitely. Also, they are crazy releasing this for only 800 points, this is easily worth 1200, especially considering Moxxi was also 800 points, and that was basically four small areas and one quest.
And Xbox Gaming gave it a 4.5/5:
Ultimately, however, General Knoxx is what you're looking for if you want another adventure like Dr. Ned. There's more stuff to do even if the stuff is kind of exactly like all the stuff you've already done more crazy things to uncover and more reasons to rope in a buddy to revisit Pandora with you. If you can stomach the 1.66 GB download, it's all yours for 800 MSP.
