I'm sure many of you noticed that Bethesda and Valve sent a small hotfix down to The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim yesterday, with its primary purpose being to remove the ability to load the game outside of Steam. While it sounds simple, the update has apparently caused a few problems for people (even those who had configured the game not to update), including not even loading anymore and crashing to the desktop more often when using high resolution textures or texture mods. If you're one of the affected people, you'll want to "Verify integrity of game cache" under the game's properties window (for the former issue), or look into using the Skyrim LAA 4GB launcher (for the latter issue):

Skyrim4GB is a tool to load SKyrin with the Large Address Aware executable flag set so the entire 4GB Virtual Memory Address Space can be used by the game.

This is my 'official' port of my tool that did the same to Fallout NV.

Skyrim4GB is licensed under the terms of the GNU Lesser General Public License version 2.1. Read the included lgpl-2.1.txt for the terms. Source code is included with the package. Original binaries compiled using Microsoft Visual Studio 2005.

Skyrim4GB additionally hooks and replaces the Windows GetTickCount() function that may improve stuttering.

And just to be clear, this is not the v1.2 patch expected to go live next week.
