Sacred 2's "single-player campaign" seems to be taking a slight cue from Crackdown, in that it's actually an open multiplayer mode. Up to four friends can join into your game at any time via your Xbox Live friends list or hook up another controller and memory card to the system. There is no need to reload anything or quit out of your current play session, because the additional players will simply spawn into your location. The computer A.I. will adjust accordingly on the fly; if a player decides he's had enough, he can log out of the session without interrupting the flow of the game. Best of all, any leveling up or loot gained from playing in another person's single-player campaign will remain with your character.
Inventory is another area where things have changed. The 360 version has dumped the Diablo style "make your shit fit" grid for a list based system. Although this allows you to carry a greater number of goodies, it also adds the tediousness of having to scroll through a list of potentially hundreds of items. To battle the frustration of list scrolling during important encounters, Ascaron is implementing customizable equip slots. Players simply select which chunks of armor and items they would want equipped for certain situations and add them to the slot. When they reach a boss battle that requires all of these items, players can simply select the equip slot to be ready to roll with the appropriate items equipped.
