Sword Coast Legends Studio N-Space is Closing Down

The folks at MMORPG.com have spotted some very unfortunate news on the personal Twitter account of artist Ben Leary. According to Leary, n-Space, the studio who developed the D&D CRPG Sword Coast Legends, has been in dire straits for a while and has already gone through multiple rounds of layoffs. In spite of the staff's best attempt, closure ended up being inevitable.

As for what it means for Sword Coast Legends, according to the status update Digital Extremes provided to us and MMORPG.com, the console ports of the game are still in the cards:

"We are deeply saddened by the closing of n-Space. Staying alive as a mid-sized independent developer in the games industry is no small feat. Their passion for creating games never faltered and their dedicated team has ended on the high note of completing the console version of Sword Coast Legends. We are working hard with them to realize as much as we can for their team during this difficult time and encourage players to keep an eye on the official website for more details on the launch of Sword Coast Legends on Xbox One and PlayStation 4."

We've reached the interested parties to seek further confirmation of this news, but posts like this goodbye from community manager Ash Sevilla on the official forums certainly seem to reinforce the credibility of the original report.

Update: We've independently contacted Digital Extremes and confirmed the validity of the original report from artist Ben Leary. Our thoughts go with the developers at n-Space, in the hope that they can quickly get back on their feet and find new positions within or outside the gaming industry.
