Should We Be Worried About Deus Ex: Mankind Divided?

Citing the earlier pre-order controversy and recent six-month delay as causes for concern, the editors at GamersFTW have editorialized about whether such problems could mean that there are bigger problems afoot in Deus Ex: Mankind Divided's development process. I'm not sure we need to start scrutinizing the game's progress this much just yet, but I suppose it never hurts to be wary:
A few months ago, Deus Ex: Mankind Divided received a lot of criticism for its preorder plan. The infamous (Augment your preorder) campaign allowed customers to pay more for more (additional) content they wanted their preordered version to come with, with the amount of content being separated into (tiers). I use (additional) in quote marks, because it's hard to call (additional) content (additional) when there wasn't really any initial content at the time. All customers knew was that it was a sequel to Human Revolution and it incorporated the same (choose-your-method) approach to traversing levels. Again, I used (choose-your-method) in quote marks because the game punished those who chose the pacifist stealth approach in a rather sadistic manner by making the boss fights nigh on impossible for anyone without an offensive weapon.
Anyway I digress; the preorder plan went down as one of the most shameless attempts to withhold content to incite gamers to pay more for an unfinished product, and it was abandoned shortly after it was announced. Knowing that a good preorder campaign is an important part of a good marketing campaign and an important part of making money, the publisher Square Enix are probably playing the long game with this one, and hoping that the (Augment your preorder) debacle will be ancient memory by next summer.
