When you reach the coffin at the end of the
Final Justice quest, you'll find a fifth set of instructions from Lucien. The next mark is a Dark Elf named Alval Uvani, who just so happens to be a traveling merchant and a master of Destruction magic. Lucien has left you a schedule that you can use to determine where to track down and kill Alval, as well as a final bit of information that could prove very useful. It seems that Alval has a rare allergy to honey and if he drinks Mead, he will be rendered immobile.
According to Lucien's notes, Alval can be found at the following locations on specific days:
- Morndas/Tirdas -- Bravil -- The Lonely Suitor Lodge
- Middas/Turas -- Skingrad -- The West Weald Inn
- Fredas/Loredas -- Bruma -- Olav's Tap and Tack
- Sundas -- Layawiin -- Alval Uvani's House
Alval is very powerful, so you're most likely going to have to take the Mead route for this quest. It wouldn't be surprising to find that you already have some Mead in your inventory, as you've most likely seen it a few times in the game already. If you don't have some, just pick a town and search for it - you're bound to find some locked away somewhere.
To avoid getting caught by the authorities while completing this quest, you may want to pick the final day, Sundas, as the time of Alval's assassination. That's the day that he stops back at his home in Leyawiin, which will give you plenty of privacy to carry out the mission. If you arrive ahead of schedule, you can take the opportunity to clean out Alval's house of all food (don't forget the cupboards and the upstairs table), then plant a single mug of Mead for him to indulge in. Place it on the dining room table on the first floor to make sure he sees it. Since it's the only food in the house left, he's bound to drink it.
For me, Alval showed up at his house around 1:00pm, but accordingly to the letter this could vary each week. Whether you've made merchant Uvani a simple kill by paralyzing him or decided to go into the brutal fight headfirst, it really doesn't matter. What
does matter is that you bleed him to death and then make your way to the hollowed-out tree stump behind Stonewall Shields in the Imperial City Market district. That's where your next dead drop will be.
Inside the stump, you'll find another 500 Gold and your sixth set of orders from Lucien. This time around, you'll be heading to the campsite on top of Gnoll Mountain to kill a savage Nord Barbarian named Havilstein Hoar-Blood. This begins the
The Coldest Sleep quest.
